UFC Fight Night Blachowicz v Santos, Prague, 23rd February

As usually happens when the UFC comes to Europe, we have a bit of a nothing card. The headline fights at these events are always the kind that would be on the prelims anywhere else! Ah well, we have to work with what is presented to us and I think I've spotted a couple of reasonable wagers for us to have a tilt at.

John Dodson v Petr Yan

An interesting match up here between the surging Petr Yan and the seemingly fading John Dodson. Three years ago, Dodson would have been long odds on here but he has been on a monumental slide in that time and doesn't really seem to take the game very seriously anymore. However, to have him at 5/2 seems to be taking things a little too far.

I have to accept that Petr Yan has looked impressive in his UFC run so far and gave a savage beating to Douglas Silva De Andrade in his last outing. That being said, he has not faced anybody of anything like the calibre of Dodson if he were to produce even half of what he is capable of.

5/2 is just too big. I expect to lose our money here (and most times we make these speclative wagers) but they are the type of bets that are a gold mine when looked at over the long term.

Advice: 1 point win John Dodson @ 3.50 Bet365 (3.25 Generally)

Marcos Rogerio De Lima v Stefan Struve

The bookies make this a very close fight with De Lima just a slight favourite and I agree that it is a close fight but I see it the other way - I think Struve should be slight favourite here based on his enormous amount of experience against the absolute elite of the heavyweight division.

We're not going to get rich with these type of bets but i think it's well worth a point at just over even money.

Advice: 1 point win Stefan Struve @ 2.10 generally

Jan Blachowicz v Thiago Santos

Another very close fight with the bookmakers just favouring Santos.

I have to agree with them but I don't think they have gone far enough. Blachowicz has been on a very decent streak but I think he is going to struggle with the power and explosiveness of Santos (14 KO's/TKO's in his 20 wins - when he hits people they tend to stay hit!)

I'm happy to take the 1.91 generally available about Santos even with Blachowicz's current form and his near home advantage.

Advice: 1 point win Thiago Santos @ 1.91 Generally

I will also put the above 3 on a 0.25 point trixie

Summary:

Advice: 1 point win John Dodson @ 3.50 Bet365 (3.25 Generally)

Advice: 1 point win Stefan Struve @ 2.10 generally

Advice: 1 point win Thiago Santos @1.91 generally

Advice: Above 3 in a 0.25 point Trixie

Have a great weekend and be lucky
